Had Wednesday morning to myself so decided I’d visit the Museum of Sex, 233 Fifth Avenue as you do.   I had passed it the other day and I thought it looked pretty amazing.   I wasn’t wrong and I’m actually going to have to revisit as you can’t take it all in at once.  The bar there was pretty epic.  Oralfix serves over 300 aphrodisiacs.  I had 2 and nothing exciting happened.  Maybe because it was only 11am.  Who knows?  I will be going back though.

Thursday’s assault at another 11 top publishing houses started well if a little wet.  You know the rain you only see in American movies?  Yeh that.  Hailing a cab didn’t work either as everyone wanted one.  Walked 20 blocks, yes 20.  This made me glad I had brought my umbrella and biker boots.  Met our PR team at the first appointment.  The girls are a lot of fun to be around and that makes for a great day.  It can be very long and tiring saying the same things over and over again whilst travelling from desk to desk but I have to say the Beauty Editors here are extremely lovely and have really loved the products.  Finished about 6.30pm and was buzzing.  We have got some great things coming up in magazines and lots of collaborations.  Most of the beauty teams I met today will be in London for fashion week so we have made plans to hook up and take the back stage to the shows Nail Rock will be doing.

So Friday I woke up at silly o clock again.  At this rate I won’t be suffering from jet lag when I come back as I’m still on London time.  I looked up a local Bikram yoga centre and decided I’d join.  Maybe this way I could sleep better too.  So much cheaper here.  Although the welcome from their dog threw me a bit.  Don’t get me wrong I’m a dog lover but at a yoga centre?  Add this to the 80 year old teacher (who could defo throw some moves) loose shorts made for an unpleasant view at times.  That said I felt amaze after as usual.

Got a call from a friend of a friend asking if I’d be able to do a nail bar party at short notice at Soho House Saturday evening.  Kirching! I’m in! The best place for a single white female to be on a Saturday night.  It’s a girlie party with a top Gaga impersonator.  This is going to be fabulous.  Can’t wait to tell you the details of that night.  If I’m alive.

So the rest of Friday was spent going around different stores and retailers looking at other nail and beauty products.  It’s given me a real good insight to what people want, buy and get attracted to when in a store like Ricky’s, CVS and Duane Read.  The market is so big here that it can’t really be compared to the UK.  The competition is immense and the consumer knows what they want.  I was a little shocked that no nail brand here has a face to it.  Back in the UK we have Andrea Fullerton, Leighton Denny etc.  Here the brands are Sally’s, POP and Broadway.  I think that’s a big bonus for us as well as our imagery and seasonal collections.
